Happy birthday! Jonathan Ross poses with the cute puppy given to him by his wife Jane Goldman for his 50th birthday

It's a landmark birthday which needs to be celebrated in style.

And that's exactly what Jonathan Ross did today as he marked turning 50 by posing with his new puppy Snowball - a present from his wife Jane Goldman.

The presenter stepped out in a striped T-shirt, matching scarf, jogging bottoms and no shoes as he posed for photographers with the über-cute little dog.

New addition to the family: Ross has called the pooch 'Snowball'

He wrote on his Twitter page yesterday: 'It is my birthday tomorrow and my special wife gave me my gift early!'

Ross then posted a picture of himself with the new addition to his family, before adding a photograph of wife Jane Goldman playing with Snowball in their incredibly opulent bedroom.

Birthday boy: Jonathan turned 50 today and is expected to throw a party tonight

Ahead of an expected birthday party tonight, Jonathan tweeted this morning: 'Good morning everyone and thanks so much for all the birthday greetings!
'Now for coffee and some embalming fluid....'

And despite reaching his half-century, Ross admitted recently he is 'never going to grow up'.

In fact, he is so in touch with his immature side that he will even front a Channel 4 programme about the nation's favourite toys this Christmas.

Speaking about the show, Ross said: 'I've finally come to terms that I'm never really going to grow up, so I have decided to unashamedly and openly embrace my love of toys.

'We all have favourites from our childhood.

'Now thanks to Channel 4 we have the chance to find out which of them really are the nation's favourite toys.'

Ross has been out of work since he ended his contract with the BBC in July, leaving his BBC One chat show and Radio 2 Saturday morning series behind.
