Mudd the bouncing bulldog: Hilarious video shows mischievous mutt jumping on a trampoline

By Jill Reilly After a lifetime of walking on solid ground, Mudd the bulldog could be forgiven for not taking to a trampoline, but as this amusing video shows, he grabbed the chance to showcase his acrobatic skills. In the 1.23 minute clip, which has become an instant hit online, Mudd is lifted on to the trampoline by his owner. As soon as his paws hit the sprung floor, he bounces up and down in excitement, turning in quick circles. Scroll down for video

Heartwarming moment dog is reunited with family FOUR YEARS after she went missing in America

By Daily Mail Reporter

A family has been reunited with their dog nearly four years after she vanished thanks to a microchip - and the kindness of a stranger.

The Metcalf family, from Raleigh, North Carolina, thought they would never see their beloved pet, nine-year-old Cassie, again after she wandered off while staying with another relative.

Although they have no idea where she spent the last few years, what they do know is she wandered into the neighbourhood of Cheryl Smith two weeks ago.

Who's that? Brandy Metcalf leans down to her dog Cassie after nearly four years apart

I remember! Cassie, who vanished while staying with a relative, walks to her owner to say hello

The concerned resident of Gaston County, which is more than 190 miles from Raleigh, noted the dog did not have any collar or identifying tags - but she refused to take her to a shelter.

Instead, she took Cassie to numerous veterinarians in the hope one would have records for her and lead them to her owner.

They discovered she was micro-chipped and, although the Metcalf family had changed their address, managed to track them down in Raleigh with the help of the Gaston County animal shelter.

'I felt like if it was my dog I would want someone to do that for me,' Smith told WBTV.
She called the family to say they had found the dog - and found Cassie's previous owners in shock.

It is you! The dog ended up more 190 miles away - but no one knows where she has been in that time

Back with the family: The Metcalfs made a fuss of their dog - and warned her she has new fellow pets at home

'The wife could not even speak because she was in tears,' Smith said. 'She handed the phone to her husband.'

A few days later, the family drove to collect their beloved pet, emotional that they would finally be reunited with the dog they had had since she was a puppy.

While Cassie looked apprehensive at first, she soon recognised her old family, pouncing all over them and licking their faces.

'Oh my gosh this is the best day of our lives,' said Brandy Metcalf, adding that their dog is a little slimmer and slower, but definitely still the same family pet they remember.

Missed: They show off pictures of a younger Cassie, who joined the family when she was just a puppy

Savior: Cassie was found by Cheryl Smith, pictured, who took her to the vets and discovered she had been microchipped. With the help of a local dog shelter, she tracked down the family

'Ms. Smith is just a saint. I can't even explain what they've done for us. We are thrilled and grateful and in debt to them.'

Her husband David added: 'I only wish I could see it through her eyes to find out what she experienced. This reminds me of a Disney movie.'

The family said they were relieved they had micro-chipped their dog, but added it is important to keep the information updated to make reunions more speedy.

These images are the handiwork of photographer Seth Casteel, who has captured the moment the water dogs take the plunge.

Seth has turned the incredible photographs into a heart-warming calendar, sure to keep a smile on your face all year round.

Monster cut a hole in pet's paw and put a jar on his head to use him as blood bait for other dogs

By Leon Watson

If you think this dog has a sad look on it's face, you'll understand why when you hear what he's been through.

Animal charities believe Pappy the mixed Labrador was left as bait for other animals with a festering paw and a jar on his head so he couldn't fight back.

He was only saved when rescuers found him wandering the streets of Dallas, Texas, starving and covered with scars.

An animal rescue group in Texas thinks someone stuck a jar on Pappy's head to train other dogs to fight

Residents in the Five Mile Creek area of the city had seen the dog near walking around for at least a week before a small group managed to snare him on Monday.

'We've gotta get him to a vet!' Maeleska Fletes recalled telling another rescuer after loading Pappy into her land cruiser. 'I can smell the foot.'

On Wednesday, doctors at the Metro Paws clinic amputated part of the dog's paw. It could have been much worse.

'This was not a random act of cruelty,' said Nancy Pinkston, a vice president with Animal Allies of Texas told The Dallas Morning News.

'That's typically done to create a blood scent so the animal can be thrown into a fighting ring and used as a bait dog for training.'

The jar was cut cleanly and precisely to fit over the dog's head, presumably so he couldn't fight back.

'Someone said today they wish this dog could tell us his story,' she said. 'In some ways I'm glad he can't. It's probably much worse than we can imagine.'

Fletes, a Dallas animal shelter commissioner, recalled tracking and catching Pappy with other dog lovers and local residents.

He was terrified, but so weak he could barely run or fight.

'We just waited until he ran out of juice,' she said.

His rescuers named him after the WW2 fighter ace Gregory 'Pappy' Boyington.

'He's so broken in spirit,' said Nancy. 'Looking at this dog's eyes, it looks like he's just waiting for someone to hit him.'

Rescuers are searching for a foster home.

'He's so broken in spirit,' Ms Pinkston told The Dallas Morning News. 'Looking at this dog's eyes, it looks like he's just waiting for someone to hit him.'

Hurt: Weak from years of living on the streets, Ol Boy was covered in ticks and lesions, unable to walk or feed himself

In the heartbreaking video the group posted on YouTube, they film Ol Boy in the state they found him.

Born on the streets, he survived on air conditioning water and leftovers given to him by the local shopkeepers.

Weak from years of neglect, he could not stand up and had been howling in pain for three days.

The group wrapped him in newspapers and brought him to a vet for treatment.

They found hundreds of ticks had burrowed into his skin, eventually resulting in tick fever.

His teeth were warped and broken and he required an emergency blood infusion.

Treatment: His teeth were warped and broken and he required an emergency blood infusion

He had numerous infections and possibly cancer, but remained sweet and loving, even while his body wrenched in agony.

It was not long after that they realized that Ol Boy wasn't just sick, he was dying.

Rather than put him down, they took him home and let him rest in a warm, loving environment for the first time.

'We stayed by his side, patting him whenever he cried in discomfort,' the group said in their video.

'That was all he wanted.'

The other dogs in the home stayed vigil over him as well, nuzzling him when he needed comfort.

One night at 2 a.m., he suddenly sat up and drank water for the final time. He passed away peacefully at 4 a.m.

His caretakers covered him in rose petals, wrapped his paws around a single sunflower and said goodbye.

In an emotional ceremony, they scattered his ashes in an open field, where can finally run free.

Save Our Street Dogs hopes that by sharing Ol Boy's story with the world they can help other dogs in need.

'Our mission is to save our street dogs to the best of our ability, and give them a chance in life,' the group says on their website.

They are a group of volunteers, banded together by a common passion to provide for the street dogs of Singapore.

They have no funding nor a shelter, so their rescue efforts are constrained by their resources and manpower.

'It will take the strength of the community to effect change for the welfare of our street dogs,' they say. 'Every hand will help rescue efforts reach a little further.'
